Windows Vista & Server 2008 Service Pack 2 Released

Earlier this week, Microsoft officially released Service Pack 2 for Vista and Windows Server 2008. It will likely be a few weeks before this new pack is available via Windows Update but executables are up for download on Microsoft’s website.

SP2 contains a number of hotfixes and security patches previously released on Windows Update as well as feature enhancements including:

  • Improved hardware compatibility
  • Improved Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
  • Native Blu-Ray support
  • Window Search 4.0
  • Power management improvements
  • Removes the default limit on half open outbound TCP connections
  • Backwards compatibility with Terminal Server license keys (Server 2008)
  • Integration of Hyper V with Server 2008 – 1 free instance with Windows Server 2008 Standard, 4 free instances with Windows Server 2008 Enterprise, unlimited free instances for Server 2008 Datacenter
